Pamela's Custom Jewelry - Pamela
Chaney
When I was a young girl,
I used to drive around a lot with my Mother. She was a nut about rocks! We would drive along and see a big rock by the side
of the road. Much to my embarrassment, my Mother would screech to a stop and say to me “Pam, go get me that rock!” Well, I think she started something. I’ve been hooked on rocks for my whole
life! Perhaps it was that experience that led me to the elements I work with today!
I work with semi-precious
stones, freshwater pearls, turquoise, amber, coral, jasper, and faceted stones that I buy in my travels. I look for intriguing,
unique and different pieces that are unusual and eye-catching. My work can be delicate or wonderfully “chunky”,
and sometimes ethnic looking. I prefer to work in sterling silver and semi precious stones, which I want to do in this class.
We will make necklaces and earrings, among other things. I will share my resources as well, because finding excellent materials
to work with is an important component of my class. I’m really excited about sharing my experience of creating with
stones.
I live and work in Courtenay.
I have a small studio in my house, and am happy to have visitors! I sell my work at several shows; Woodland Gardens in the
Spring and Fall Shows, Simms Park on Saturdays, Pier Street Market on Sundays. This year I was in the Filberg Festival in
Comox on July 31st August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Meet me at the Pier Street Christmas Markets!
