The Pier Street Market is a seasonal institution in Cambell River, drawing patrons and vendors from around the
Island every Sunday from May to September. It is a "must see" for anyone visiting the area.
The market goes indoors in December for the annual Pier Street Christmas Markets.

Welcome to the Market!
The Pier Street Farmers Market and Arts Fair is held every Sunday from 9 till 2 pm (first Sunday in May till last Sunday in
September).
The market is surrounded by the stunning scenery of Georgia Strait, Fisherman's Wharf, Discovery Fishing Pier and Maritime
Heritage Centre. Enjoy a walk along the nicely rejuvenated Pier Street, the historic soul of Campbell River. Watch the sport
fishermen on the Pier, visit the Maritime Heritage Centre, relax on the pocket beach located right at the Market. Lots to
do and see for all ages!
The market started in
2003 as an initiative of the Pier Street Association in the hopes that it would invite people to the area. That it did. The
market quickly became a popular community affair; special event weekends even attract around 4,000 visitors! It is not only
the wide variety of homemade wares, arts and crafts, and fresh produce that bring the crowds, but also the enticing atmosphere,
hot food and live music.
After the successful start in 2003, Pier Street Association applied for
and received a grant from Community Futures, which allowed the association
to invest in a mobile music stage (the Tin Can, upper photo right and
photo below), a sound system, which is still alive and working, and signage.

The
Pier Street Association and the Farmers Market Committee like to thank Community Futures and all involved to grant us the
seed funding in order to make this Pier Street Farmers Market a successful venture and a valuable community asset. Several
new businesses have spun off the Farmers Market since it started. The market is open to Community groups for a special rate
or for free.
Any proceeds raised
from the Farmers Market go into Pier Street beautification projects.
The City of Campbell River supported
the Pier Street Farmers Market all the way, looks after clean-up and beautification of the market area and in 2008 installed
sufficient power to make it a generator-free market.
The Discovery Pier is a Campbell River landmark and draws
visitors and sports fishermen from all over the world since its construction in 1987. Ice cream and wraps from the Pier concession
are legendary.
When the Market started in 2003, the Maritime Heritage Centre
was still under construction. Since 2005 it houses the seiner
BCP45 which later got heritage status.

All components together, the Maritime Heritage Centre, the adjacent Government Wharf, the Discovery
Fishing Pier and the Pier Street Farmers Market create a new community gathering place
which revitalized a nearly forgotten and deserted area of town.
CANADIAN GEOGRAPHIC ‘SUMMER TRAVEL 2009 lists our market at
the top of their ‘TOP TEN’ list !!! For ALL
OF CANADA !!! Find out why by coming down for a visit. Are
